Starting in August, Margaret Rizon will undertake a 500-mile walking pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain, starting in the foothills of the Pyrenees. She will carry her belongings in a backpack and sleep in pilgrim hostels during the month-long odyssey. She is trekking not only for personal reasons but to support the heroic cause of raising money for education and healthcare of our impoverished brothers and sisters in the developing world.
Margaret was born and raised in the Philippines and holds degrees from Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, Fordham University, and Columbia University. She is a teacher and teacher-trainer at Teachers College Columbia University. She looks forward to the language and cultural exposure in Spain and to the challenges of the trek!
